SO its almost summertime in Upstate, NY. I
know its the end of June and all, but I guess Mother Nature is just taking her
sweet ol' time this year. What else is new. Anyway, last weekend's weather was
amazeballs.
No doubt, it was time for this pale Spanish
girl to get some color. So i busted out the Hawaiian Tropic Deep Tanning Oil
with an SPF of 8. I know I know, use more SPF, Lins. But damn, ya girl was
trying to get her Puerto Rican on.
As I'm laying there soaking up the sun and
wondering why in the hell every single bee felt the need to whisper sweet
buzzings in my ear, I had a mini freak out. If I get too dark, I will have ZERO
foundations that match me. I know what you all are saying, "THE STRUGGLE
IS REAL." #firstworldprobs.
And then I remembered that tan skin really
doesn't need that much coverage, and I felt much better about my SPF8.
Everyone's skin looks so much better a little sunkissed, and ladies, this is
the time of year to let your skin breathe. For the love of everything ever,
please stop caking on your foundation in the heat of the summer. It doesn't look
good and it makes everyone uncomfortable.
Tinted moisturizers & BB creams are a
godsend in the summertime after you get some color. They are lightweight,
moisturizing, and most of them have some sort of SPF intact. My go to product
in the summer is Laura Mercier's Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer. Seriously. It
gives enough coverage, highlights in all the right places, and makes me look
like a bronzed goddess. So.freaking.beautiful. Seriously, run don't walk.
If I'm looking for something with a bit
less shimmer for a more matte and natural look, I'll grab her oil-free tinted
moisturizer or Garnier's oil free BB cream. Seriously, thank you BB creams.
Even though these are moisturizers, I still
put some sort of a primer underneath them. You always want to create a barrier
in between your skin & makeup. Primers smooth pores and lines as well as
any other imperfections. Not to mention primers are like velcro to anything
you put on top of them. Right now I am LOVING LOVING LOVING MAC's Prep+Prime
Natural Radiance. Again, run don't walk. We will have a post later on my love
affair with primers, this just isn't their time yet!
Most of the time I apply these products
with my fingertips in a patting motion. Try not to rub. They are also super
beautiful when applied with a foundation brush. Using a brush also saves dirtying your hands and uses less product.
Our skin is so much different in the summer
than winter, and we need to remember to switch up the products.
More posts to follow with a whole
summertime face look as well as other kick ass products.
